Below are Pictures of Dreamer. A 1978 QH gelding. He began his mineral balanced diet this month.
He has been on a balanced all mash diet for about 4 years. A couple of months ago, I noticed huge
changes in his skin & coat. I had been routinely sending in samples of his pelleted complete feed,
every 6 months or so, and they had always come back looking good. But the last sample of the
complete feed he has been eating for years, came back very very high in iron, minerals off balance
and sugar way over what it had been.
I stopped the pelleted feed immediately and switched him over to a mixture of grass pellets, alfalfa
pellets, and well rinsed beet pulp. I added the necessary minerals to his mash, to balance everything
he was getting. His coat looked awful at the beginning of April, it was washed out, coarse, long in
some areas and short in others, his skin was very itchy, he rubbed his shoulder, belly and mane raw.
His blood work showed that he was also slightly anemic. Dreamer had a stroke in April 2008. He is not
currently on any medication of any kind.

Dreamer has been on his new mineral balanced diet for 2 months now. His coat has improved by
leaps and bounds. He still has some long and rough patches, but they are shedding out. His itchy
skin is still an issue, but its much improved. Hes stopped rubbing his shoulder and mane.

Below are pictures from earlier today. Dreamer is his old self again. His coat is beautiful, soft, silky and
all shed out normally. His mane is growing back in, his belly still itches a bit, but there are no open
wounds, just some itchy skin. His coat color has returned to normal, a brilliant red bay with dark legs
and a black mane & tail. I haven't had his bloodwork checked again, but I will in the next few weeks.
The mild anemia should be gone.
